FAQs
The Percival Guildhouse runs courses over the whole academic year, split into three terms: Autumn, Spring and Summer.
You can enrol by telephone, by post, in person, or by sending an enquiry to us via our website booking enquiry form.
For Autumn term, enrolment is open to everyone from the brochure launch date, usually in mid-August. The brochure will be available online (and in hard copy at the Rugby Visitors Centre). Enrolment is on a ‘first come, first served’ basis, and, due to the capacity of our rooms, places are limited. The office will be open 9.30am – 1.30pm during the enrolment period and prompt enrolment is advised to secure places on popular courses.
Spring and Summer terms differ from Autumn. For current students, a two-week grace period is given for re-enrolment. If re-enrolment has not occurred within this period, enrolments will be opened to the community for spaces to be filled. New students can join at any time if there is space.
Once an enrolment form has been completed for any term, we do not require subsequent forms in that academic year. If any changes to your details occur, you can either update your records online, inform the office staff on 01788 542467 or pop in to see us during our term-time opening hours.
Course fees are non-refundable except in the following circumstances:
Other than in the cases of class closure or unsuitability of the class an administrative charge of £15 will be made together with a deduction of any sessions to date whether the student has attended or not.
Please note: No refunds will be given under any circumstances for Workshops, short courses, visits or classes running on low numbers unless your place can be filled by another student, when a £15 administration charge will be made.
The Percival Guildhouse reserves the right to cancel courses or engage alternative tutors when necessary. If a course enrols fewer than 9 students, a discussion between students and tutors will try to mitigate the financial risk. This may result in a shortened course.
Yes. Fee remission is currently available for students who are in receipt of one of the following means tested benefits:
Students will need to provide evidence of being in receipt of benefits. It is essential that you send a photocopy of the documentary evidence of your entitlement to benefit. An enrolment cannot be accepted without this documentation if you are claiming fee remission.
Each student who qualifies for fee remission can pay the lower fee on one course per term for as long as we are in receipt of a grant which allows us to support adults on means tested benefits.
PLEASE NOTE: Fee remission is not automatically available for over 65’s unless they are also in receipt of means tested benefits.
Payments can be made in person, over the telephone or by post. We accept credit and debit cards, cheques, cash and PGH gift vouchers.
We are happy to accept spread payments for full length courses if you are paying by cheque. Simply send us two cheques, one present dated and one post dated (for November, February or May, depending on the term) with each cheque for half of the total fees.
This facility is not available for short courses or Workshops. Please send all cheques with your enrolment form or letter. (Cheques payable to The Percival Guildhouse).
Give the gift of learning with one of our gift vouchers.
Get in touch by email or phone 01788 542467 to buy your voucher. You will get a printed voucher, ready to be personalised for gifting. Vouchers can be of any denomination and there’s no expiry date. This makes them super flexible so they can be redeemed whenever there’s a course or workshop the gift voucher holder would like to join.
Our vouchers can only be used as payment for a PGH course or workshop. When you enrol for a course, tell us that you have a gift voucher. If the value of your gift voucher is more than the cost of the course you want to join, any balance will remain on the gift voucher and can be used towards another course or workshop in the future. If the value of your gift voucher is less than the cost of the course or workshop, you will need to pay the balance when you enrol.
Yes, but this is subject to circumstances. If you enrol by post and include a stamped addressed envelope with your enrolment, a receipt will be posted to you. If you do not include a stamped addressed envelope, or if you enrol by phone, your receipt will held in the class register and given to you by your tutor at your first class. If you enrol in person, a receipt will be given to you when you pay.
No matter which method you use to enrol, if you access your Percival Guildhouse records online, you will see confirmation of your course details and a receipt number in your record as soon as your enrolment has been processed.

Most courses take place at The Percival Guildhouse; some of our courses may take place at an outside venue, or on Zoom. This will be clearly stated in the brochure.
Course outlines/syllabuses are available online. Click a course on the Courses page for details. They are intended to present a general statement of the topics to be covered and the order in which they are to be presented. It will be appreciated that successful learning outcomes are affected by the prior knowledge of the group and by individual interests and expertise. Some variation in the time given to particular topics, and the precise order in which they are presented, is therefore to be expected.
There are many ways to help us! You can donate money, become a Friend of the Guildhouse, help us at fundraising events or volunteer to be an evening steward. You will find all the information you need to decide how you would like to help on our support us page.
At The Percival Guildhouse we have a selection of 8 rooms available for hire. For more information, give us a call on 01788 542467.
Please note: Room hire is dependent on the current academic timetable and therefore some rooms may not be available on enquiry.
