We were proud to mark National Heritage Weekend with a wonderful display: “100 Years of Fashion and Textiles”, curated by Sheila Winterton – former Guildhouse fashion tutor, past Centre Manager, and our Honorary Vice President. 135 people came to see the display which occupied the whole of the ground floor at the Percival Guildhouse.

Sheila (pictured with her husband Paul taking a well-earned breather!) created a captivating journey through a century of style. We’re especially grateful to local shops who kindly supplied some of the manikins that brought the display to life. From baby clothes to wedding dresses and fabric prints through the decades, the whole fashion and textiles exhibition gave a vibrant and beautiful visual experience as well as a fascinating insight into the history of the articles on display.

Alongside this, visitors also enjoyed a fascinating glimpse into our own history with an archive exhibition on the 1st floor.
We’re delighted to say the whole weekend was very warmly received. Thank you to everyone who joined us!
