FAQs

How do I book onto a course or workshop?

To book a place on one of our courses or workshops you will need to register with us online.  See our How to Book page for step-by-step guidance. If you have any queries, or difficulties registering, please contact us on 01788 542467, or at contact@percival-guildhouse.co.uk,  or pop in to see us.

The Percival Guildhouse runs courses over the whole academic year, split into three terms: Autumn, Spring and Summer.

You can book onto courses and workshops online or in person. If you have already registered online, you can also book by telephone, however we would love you to use our online booking system if possible. If you have a query, please phone us or email us.

In Autumn, bookings are open to everyone from the date our Autumn programme launches, usually in mid-August. You can see our full programme of courses and workshops online and book on straight away. If you prefer, we also produce a pdf brochure which you can download from the website or pick up a hard copy from our office or at the Rugby Visitors Centre. Autumn bookings work on a ‘first come, first served’ basis, and, due to the capacity of our rooms, places are limited. The office will be open weekdays 9.30am – 1.30pm from the programme launch date until the start of Autumn term to help you. During term we are open weekdays 9.00am – 3.30pm. We recommend you book as soon as possible because popular courses fill up fast.

Booking for Spring and Summer term courses is slightly different. If you are already booked onto a course, when bookings open for the following term you will be given a two-week priority window during which your place is reserved and you can book to continue on your course if you wish.  If you don’t book for the following term within this two-week priority window, your place will become available to others. New students can join a Spring or Summer course straight away if there is space.

We accept payment by Debit and Credit Cards for all bookings.

If you book in person, we will also accept payment by Cash, PGH Vouchers or Cheques payable to The Percival Guildhouse.

Yes. We offer a concessionary rate (referred to as Fee Remission) to students who are in receipt of one of the means-tested benefits listed below. Each student who qualifies for fee remission can pay the lower fee on one course or workshop per term.

  1. Job Seekers Allowance
  2. Working Tax Credit
  3. Housing Benefit/ Council Tax Benefit
  4. Income Support
  5. Employment and Support Allowance (income based)
  6. Universal Credit
  7. Pension Credit
  8. Unwaged dependent on one of the above categories

When you register to book, please click on the benefit you receive in the list provided. This will notify us of your entitlement and we will contact you for your evidence. You don’t have to wait for us to approve your entitlement, you can book on one course or workshop per term at the lower fee straight away while we complete our admin checks. If we are not able to confirm your entitlement to the lower fee, we will ask you to pay the difference between the lower fee and the full price.

Course information will state whether materials/equipment are included in the course fee, whether you need to bring your own materials/equipment or whether you need to pay extra to purchase a pack of materials/equipment from the tutor.  Sometimes you can choose whether to bring your own materials/equipment or pay for them to be provided.

For courses that use photocopied materials, a reasonable, but limited amount of photcopied material will be provided free of charge to students in every class. Where more photocopied resources are required, students will be asked to contribute

All course information is available online. Click the MORE button on any course to see all the information provided by the tutor. This may include a general statement of the topics to be covered and the order in which they are to be presented as well as information on the materials and equipment that may be provided or required.

For weekly courses, refunds can be made in the following circumstances:

• Course cancelled by PGH – a refund will be calculated from the date of cancellation
• Unsuitability of the course providing the request is made to the office immediately after the first session – a refund will be calculated from the appropriate date

There will be a deduction of the fee for any sessions which have already taken place, whether the student has attended or not.

No refunds can be made for Workshops unless they are cancelled by PGH.

The Percival Guildhouse reserves the right to cancel courses or engage alternative tutors when necessary. If a course enrols fewer than 9 students, a discussion between PGH, students and tutor will try to mitigate the financial risk. This may result in a shortened course, or the course may be cancelled.

Give the gift of learning with one of our gift vouchers.

How to buy a Gift Voucher

Contact us to buy your voucher. You will get a printed voucher, ready to be personalised for gifting. Vouchers can be of any denomination and there’s no expiry date. This makes them super flexible so they can be redeemed whenever there’s a course or workshop the gift voucher holder would like to join.

How to redeem a Gift Voucher

Our vouchers can only be used as payment for a PGH course or workshop and you will need to contact the office to redeem them. Tell us which course or workshop you would like to book on using your gift voucher. If the value of your gift voucher is more than the cost of the course you want to join, any balance will remain on the gift voucher and can be used towards another course or workshop in the future. If the value of your gift voucher is less than the cost of the course or workshop, you will need to pay the balance when you book.

Unless otherwise stated, most courses take place at The Percival Guildhouse; some of our courses may take place at an outside venue, or on Zoom. This will be clearly stated.

The Percival Guildhouse complies with the General Data Protection Regulations to keep all our students’ data confidential. When you register, you will be asked to agree to our  Privacy Policy which sets our how we will use your data.

There are many ways to help us! You can donate money, become a Friend of the Guildhouse, help us at fundraising events or volunteer to be an evening steward. You will find all the information you need to decide how you would like to help on our support us page.
