Spanish for Holidays
Come and have a go at speaking in Spanish. At the end of the day you’ll be able to introduce yourself, buy drinks and snacks, ask for directions, inquire about opening and closing times, buy food and much more. This is a conversational workshop with some note taking. ¡Hasta pronto! (Charge of £3 for photocopies).

Themed Life Drawing: Folklore, Myth and Legend
If you’ve ever been enchanted by fairies, beguiled by tales of Robin Hood, or found yourself wondering about the Green Man, you’re sure to find inspiration here. This workshop is an opportunity to draw a model from life, with poses and costumes inspired by folklore, myth and legend. We will start off with a series of short warm-up poses in the first half of the workshop, building up to some longer poses in the second half. No prior experience necessary. Both beginners and improvers are welcome.
A tutor will be at hand to guide you through the poses and offer advice, as well as tell a tale or two! Some materials (paper, pencils, drawing tools, brushes and paints) will be provided, but feel free to bring your own. An additional fee of £4.00 applies to help cover the cost of the model’s fees.
Needlefelting
Join in a fun workshop and learn how to needlefelt. You will be shown how to use the tools and materials required to create three dimensional detailed sculptures of birds and animals, and how to make poseable armatures out of pipe cleaners. There will be demonstrations of how to create colourful landscapes and flowers on felt sheets. If you want to source your own materials you will need dense foam 10x 10cms , felting needles and roving wool in various shades. The tutor will have packs to purchase on the day for £5 that includes all materials.

Feathered Friends: Drawing Garden Birds in Coloured Pencils
Join us for an inspiring coloured-pencil workshop where you’ll learn to draw beautiful British garden birds, exploring a variety of techniques to bring your artwork to life. Discover how to capture the distinctive shapes of familiar garden birds, sketch with energy and character, and master the art of layering and blending vibrant colours. Perfect for nature enthusiasts and those eager to observe and study the natural world, this hands-on course uses tutor-provided photographs as reference, with guidance at every step to help you create your own stunning bird drawings. A materials list is available to view on the website.

Collage Techniques
Collage is a very old technique that invites you to collect, combine and transform existing imagery and ephemera into entirely original compositions. In this day workshop you will learn how to make your own collage papers by painting and stencilling, how to use existing images from magazines to have a little surrealist fun and many other techniques that you can then bring together to create a final composition. You will need to bring along some water-based paints and brushes, and any found papers such as wrapping paper, old books, photos, leaflets, packaging – the list is endless.
Next Steps in Tracing your Family History
This workshop is aimed at those who have already started to research their family history and looked at civil registration, census returns, etc. In this workshop we will be looking at crime and punishment records, maps, trade directories, newspapers, poor law records and parish records.
