Ballet Hoo
Continuing to dip into the lesser known treasure chest of the classical ballet repertoire, we will look at 3 completely contrasting story ballets performed by Northern Ballet, New York City Ballet and the Royal Ballet: A Simple Man (Gillian Lynn’s ballet on L.S.Lowry with music by Carl Davis), The Steadfast Tin Soldier (Balanchine/Bizet) and The Firebird (Fokine/Stravinsky).
Air Dry Clay Sculpting
Join in a fun and creative day learning how to use air dry clay to make gifts for friends and family. You will be shown how to sculpt the clay to achieve the best results, and how to paint the finished pieces. The tutor will demonstrate how to make the following items brooches, jewellery, photo holders, Christmas/any occasion ornaments and small sculptures. If you have any modelling tools, cookie cutters and a rolling pin please bring them along, you can source your own clay or purchase it when you enrol at £4 per pack.
Learn to Sew in a Day
Have you a sewing machine still in its box or have you always wanted to learn to sew but have never found the time or the confidence, then this one day workshop is for you. You will learn all the basics of sewing including how to thread your machine, what all the dials are for, when and how to change tension, when to change needle size. You will also be made familiar with different fabrics and their uses, basic equipment requirements and how to understand a commercial pattern. We will then put all your skills into practice by making a lined tote bag.

Saturday Chess
A rather famous, dodgy Russian once said “Chess makes people wiser and clear-sighted”. Albert Einstein played it! Napoleon played it! You too can play Chess anywhere, at any level, but it helps to know the ideas behind the game. And that’s where the Percival Guildhouse steps in! Chris Stanley, ex County player, will show you the main skills and approaches. Inside two hours we will cover the main openings, styles, strategies and endgame techniques. Please bring your own board and pieces.
