How to Start a Business

A practical, supportive course for building a business that makes sense

Starting a business can feel overwhelming before you’ve even begun. You might have an idea you believe in, but feel unsure about where to start, what to prioritise, or whether you’re even doing the right thing.

This three week course is designed to take that pressure off. You will gain far more clarity about what your business is, who your customers are and how you’re going to find them. You’ll be guided step by step through the decisions that shape a strong foundation, so you can move forward with confidence rather than second guessing yourself.

Each session includes guided discussion, practical exercises and real examples, with plenty of space to ask questions and work through your own ideas as you go.

Week 1: Clarity First

This session focuses on helping you understand what your business actually is and who it’s for. You’ll be able to work through your idea, shape a clear brand proposition, and gain more confidence in explaining what you do.

You’ll leave with greater clarity around your direction, your audience and the value you offer.

Week 2: Building Simple Foundations

Once the idea is clear, this session looks at the foundations that help a business feel real and credible. We’ll explore what you actually need at the start, including how to approach a website on a budget, what matters most, and what can wait.

This session is about making sensible choices and avoiding unnecessary complexity.

Week 3: Building Visibility

With clarity and foundations in place, the final session looks at how to start attracting interest without pressure or overwhelm. We’ll cover how to approach visibility in a way that supports your strategy, including how to think about social media calmly and intentionally.

You’ll leave with a clearer sense of where to focus your energy and how to build momentum at a pace that feels sustainable.
