How to Self-Publish Properly

You’ve written the book. Now learn how to publish it properly. This practical three week course demystifies self-publishing and guides you through each step, from preparing your manuscript to making your book available to readers.

By the end of the course, you’ll understand exactly how to take a manuscript from your computer to a published book, with the confidence to repeat the process for future projects. You’ll also have the knowledge of how to build an author brand and develop your own marketing plan.

Places are limited on this course.

Week 1: Getting Your Manuscript Ready

What “finished” actually means when you’re self-publishing, including final edits, basic formatting and preparing your file for upload. This session focuses on clarity, readiness and avoiding the most common mistakes.

Week 2: Publishing Your Book with Amazon KDP

A guided walk through of the Amazon KDP process, from setting up your account to uploading files, choosing formats, pricing and preparing your book for publication. Designed to remove intimidation and make the process feel manageable. No advanced technical knowledge is required.

Week 3: Launching and Marketing Your Book

How to approach marketing realistically once your book is live, including visibility, promotion and what to expect after launch. We’ll focus on sustainable, achievable steps, looking at social media, building an author brand, and how to get your book into book shops.

Who is this course aimed at?
This course is for anyone who is self-publishing for the first time or who wants more clarity and confidence around the process. We will be using Microsoft Word and Amazon KDP live in the online sessions. You don’t need to be technically savvy as your trainer will guide you through every step of the way.

Do you need a finished manuscript to join?
While the course walks you step by step through the self-publishing process, you can also follow along for a future book, or revisit a book you’ve already published to check you’ve got the details right. As long as you want to self-publish at some point, this course will be useful for you.
