An inclusive environment

We like to welcome everyone to the Percival Guildhouse and understand that everyone is different. Every effort is made to accommodate anyone with a physical disability in our classes and activities. In order to help plan and judge whether our facilities are appropriate for you, please contact a member of the PGH team on 01788 542467, or email us at

Stair-free access

The Guildhouse is a Grade II listed building, designed on multiple levels connected by stairs. The front entrance includes three steps. Stair-free access into the Guildhouse is possible via ramps at the side and rear entrances. An internal lift also provides stair-free access from the ground floor to the first and second floors. Under normal circumstances, the lift can accommodate three to four people and everyone is welcome to use it. While social distancing measures are in place, the lift is limited to one person at a time.

Fire Evacuation Procedures

For able-bodied students, emergency evacuations take place using the stairs and our three ground floor exits. Each term your tutor will remind you of the exit route for your class.

For students who may have some difficulty with the stairs, we will offer you a Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP) if you let us know your situation. This will include an explanation and walk-through of your emergency exit route so that you have all the information you need to exit the building safely.

For students who let us know that they are completely unable to use the stairs, we will offer you a Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP) as described above. Please note: In the event of a fire, our internal lift cannot be used. We would therefore recommend that you attend courses located on the ground floor if you are completely unable to use the stairs.

Please contact us if you would like to discuss evacuation arrangements in more detail.
