ACCESSIBILITY

An inclusive environment

We like to welcome everyone to the Percival Guildhouse and understand that everyone is different. Every effort is made to accommodate anyone with a physical disability in our classes and activities. In order to help plan and judge whether our facilities are appropriate for you, please contact a member of the PGH team on 01788 542467, or email us at contact@percival-guildhouse.co.uk

Stair-free access

The Guildhouse is a Grade II listed building, designed on multiple levels connected by stairs and an internal lift. The front entrance includes three steps but stair-free access into the Guildhouse is possible via ramps at the side and rear entrances. The internal lift provides stair-free access from the ground floor to the first and second floors. Under normal circumstances, the lift can accommodate three to four people and everyone capable of managing the stairs in an emergency is welcome to use it.

Fire Evacuation Procedures

Emergency evacuations take place using the stairs and our three ground floor exits. Each term your tutor will remind you of the exit route for your class.

Please note: In the event of a fire, our internal lift cannot be used.

  • For students who have difficulty with the stairs and require additional time to exit the building, we will offer you a Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP) if you let us know your situation. This will include an explanation and walk-through of your emergency exit route so that you have all the information you need to exit the building safely.
  • For students who are completely unable to use the stairs, we will also offer you a PEEP, however you may only attend courses located on the ground floor.

Please contact us if you would like to discuss evacuation arrangements in more detail.
